Dog-Free Picnic Area

This area has been set aside for picnics. Our intention is to try to keep the area mown more frequently than other areas of the Green although it will never be a close mown lawn!

Extensive tree planting has been undertaken around the picnic area so that, in time, the grass area will form a leafy glade within a small wood.

We have installed a gate and fenced the whole area to form a "dog free" zone. This is the only area of the Green that is so designated and, to discourage stray dogs entering, we do encourage picnickers to close the gates every time they are used.

Already many of the trees and shrubs are becoming established with dazzling green leaves in the spring and wonderful shows of berries and leaf colours in the Autumn.
